After world cup 2018 euphoria, everyone talking about Kylian Mbappé. Ya, he is only 18 years old and everyone in the world know about him. He lead the France football team being the first champion of the world cup 2018.

Malaysian, proudly introduced to the world their youngest Minister of Youth and Sports, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman. He is a Malaysian politician and activist. Guess what, he just only 25 years old when he was a Minister.

Another one from my lovely country, Indonesia. Lalu Muhammad Zohri, just make all Indonesia people so proud to having him. He is the first Indonesian to win a medal in any world championships for athletics. He only 18 years old and come from poor family. With all its limitations, Zohri proves nothing is impossible.

How about you? How about me? In my 25 age I still do nothing. Everyday, 9 to 5 do same thing on my cubicle. I wish in this age I can write an article on Medium with title “Advice from 25 years old me to 17 years old me”, or maybe 20 years old as Nic Haralambous wrote.

Deep breathe…

I know, it’s not only me. One of you who read this story maybe have same problem like me. Hard to finding yourself, what your life purpose is, feel act childish in this “enough” age, feel alone, and more.

So, starting today, I try to change my life cycle, not blaming myself anymore. Try to find best things inside me. Try to make more good life. Here’s what I do to change my life.

1.Start day with #1 priority

It’s easy to start the day with something that seems good, but ultimately isn’t all that important.

There are countless good things you could do. But what is the FIRST thing you should do?

Me? I start my day with talking to God. Praise Him, say thank you that you wake up with new spirit, healthy, and any good things. Trust me this would make you day great!

2. Collect Ideas

Ideas and thoughts tend to evaporate from your mind too fast. Try to capture them before it is too late. Ideally, write down or sketch every single one.

3. Never be afraid of making decisions

You might think that making no decision at all can do no harm, but you’re wrong. The worst thing about making decisions is when you don’t pull the trigger.

Waiting, postponing, doubting, researching too much — it’s all not useful. Get your act together, and decide firmly whenever you have to make one. And when you made the wrong decision, apologize, and make another decision.

4. Expand network

If you are an introvert like me and feel so hard to talk with new people, just push yourself to be extrovert enough. It might hard at the first time, but with the time you’ll get usual with that.

It’s okay to not be okay.

Send message to your LinkedIn connection and ask her/him grab a cup of coffee, attend social event, say hello to your new followers on Twitter, join local walking tour, go traveling to the place that you never know before, alone.

You will find new experience, meet new friends, amazed by other people’s mindsets, and more good things will happen.

Still wearing white shirt and cap. Different walking tour with @jktgoodguide, more new friends :)

5. Read and write

Read a lot. Reading is probably the best investment of time ever. Devote at least 30 minutes per day to reading. Ideally, always have a book with you. Then you won’t waste any minute purposelessly.

If you want to start doing something, act now. Do not wait for better moment. It will never come. Write on your own blog, write every journey of your life. Write about everything you learn everyday, write your love story. Just write. Then you’ll learn how to be good writers.

Happiness is a choice

We are the only one who can control our thoughts. That means we decide what we do with our life. If you’re unsatisfied, angry, or frustrated, that’s all you.

Come on, wake up from your bed and do something! 🤪

Your new best friend,

Andre
