I though 2020 gonna be my year, and I believe most of you dreaming the same dream. In fact, I already love 2020 at the beginning because it’s number. 2 and 0 is really my lucky number. — or just personal suggestion since I was born on 20 February.

My 2020 was start really damn good, I get offer to work at multinational company and required me to doing business travelling every 1 month. They need me to be onsite at head office which is in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. That was fun, I love this job at the first. I other hand, I also get really good benefit.

But, after 2 month working on head office, I found out there’s working culture gap that I can’t sync with. I love to work with all the teammates, I enjoy every lunch recommendation, all nearby coffeeshop, I just love it. — But at some point, I just thinking I’m not belong to this company, I can’t synch myself yet with how they working and delivering jobs. So after 3 month total working, at the end of March 2020 I decided to resign and come back immediately to Jakarta.

My teammates on Ho Chi Minh City

For few weeks I try to reflecting, are the decision I made is right decision or just an egoism? Some close friend try to convince me to not resigning in the middle of pandemic. — Yes, 2020 already worse with Global pandemic, and I just because of some small things at work I made my 2020 more worse for being unemployed.

Lots of people lost their job because of the pandemic, and me, I lost myself job because of my own idealism. — but this decision at the end I regret, turns out bring me to something that I never thought before.

Being unemployed in the middle of pandemic, fail on relationship and broke up with girlfriend, lost one of the close family member, far away from family and can’t cherish every good moment together — is some of worse things that I’ll never regret that 2020 give to me. But, as a human being our purposes is to use our best resources and try to survive in any circumstances. And I am glad, I survive 2020 and still can write this stories on the very first 2021.

Lets try to forget all the worse things and make it a lesson, and focus what we achieve in 2020. For me, there’s some new achievement, some new things that finally can be done in 2020. I make it a list so I can look back in few years and see how far my progress have been from 2020.

1. I start my very first drop-shipping store on Marketplace

This was really something new for me, but since I’ve some experience from previous company that I mentioned above regarding to onsite marketing or marketplace marketing, so I try to put some effort here. I start in the middle of April 2020. Start from seeking for dropship partner, uploading as much product I can handle, and then keep doing marketing activities. Turns out, and the end of December I already sold more than 700 items and generate GMV more than $18K. I know, not a big number for you, but for me who just started that was really big number.

2. I more close to mother nature

Since I can’t hangout with friend on public space or nearest coffeeshop, I decide to doing something new. Kind of one day trekking, more exercise, more walking, enjoying what mother nature already given to us. As I remember at least I come back visiting mother nature at least 5 times in 2020 with total walking more than 50km. That was something new!

Its really fun can come back to see the nature

3. I conduct my very first online teaching class

Our knowledge will be more useful if shared with others. I’ve been planning to conduct kind of mentoring or teaching class few years ago. Thank to global pandemic, everyone going online and to start teaching class is more easier. At least I don’t have to think about the venue. Its really relieving while you finally can do what you've been planning for few years.

4. I talk to many inspiring people

I actually an introvert person, talk with other people can be energy drainage for me. But this year I really enjoy talk with some people that I know from LinkedIn, even doing some videocall for some professional purposes. Some of them share how they can make a company more enjoyable and profitable. Talking to other people isn't about what they can share to you. but from my point of view, its more about how you can learn to talk with someone else itself. How you can treat and communicate with each people nicely and make them comfortable.

5. I publish my very first online courses on Udemy

After conduct my very first online classes, I've thinking why not publish an pre-record video to online learning platform like Udemy so everyone can watch and repeat it at some point. I am glad, I produce all the content for only one weeks and by now I already have 27 student enroll for my class. If you interested to learn about how I start my own dropship store, you can check my class on Udemy.

6. I join some online productivity class online

I believe learning is something that never ending. To keep myself sane, I subscribe an learning account on Skillshare and join some productivity classes. That was good, I think most of the classes I joined is make real impact for my life. One lesson that I keep practicing is about 1 minutes rules. Most of make any task, even it small as to-do list. As example after lunch of dinner we can directly wash our dishes. It takes no more that 1 minutes, instead of make it as to-do list and doing it later.

7. I finally learn how to play instruments

I use to learn how to play guitar few years ago while I was in highs school. But I fail, just end up I hurt all my finger. This year I convince myself to start over learning instrument. I choose Ukulele because I though it more easier that guitar. I make a calendar to learn at least 30 minutes a day, 5 day/weeks. By today, I already can play; don't look back in anger, somewhere over the rainbow, grow old with you, can’t help fall in love, o holy night, and love some song with basic chord. I really proud of it! :D

2021 probably can be more unexpected year, just like our 2020. Whatever happens, get yourself ready for any circumstances'. I want to finish this stories with some advises for all of you. This advice actually I get from the class that I joined on Skillshare.
